I took my 14-year-old Toro 826 OCE snow blower in for diagnostics and service. The shop identified several issues including old gas and oil, engine surging requiring carburetor replacement, surface rust, a cracked plastic chute cover, worn bearings, belts needing replacement, and a cracked wheel friction disc. I was also told I had one week to decide on the direction of the repair. The cost of the repair was to be $1500. It was unclear what would have happened if I had not responded within that timeframe. During my conversation with D, I was told the machine was old, in rough condition with SUBSTANTIAL rust, that the repairs exceeded the value of the unit, and that I should consider purchasing a new snow blower (quoted at $1,800–$1,900). The suggested replacement was a smaller, lighter-duty unit than the heavy-duty machine I currently own. In a separate conversation with R, I was told the rust was surface-level and not a concern, the issues were clearly identified, and suggested that I could save money by completing only the carburetor repair at this time. When I asked to proceed with just the carburetor repair, I was advised the shop would not do partial repairs—stating legal liability—and that it was all recommended repairs or none. As a result, no repair work was completed, and I was required to pay the diagnostic fee before taking the machine home. After checking my rights, I could not find any legal requirement supporting this position. The cracked chute cover is not currently throwing snow toward the operator and could be easily repaired with plastic weld or a plastic plate, and the bearings, while showing play, are not unsafe for continued use. I ultimately took the machine home without repairs, as it felt more like a push to sell a new machine than support a reasonable, staged repair approach for an older unit. I will be seeking a repair centre that is willing to work with a staged repair approach for older, heavy-duty equipment.

Terrible customer service. I called Alpine Lawn & Equipment twice and both times an older man answered the phone and immediately hung up on me. No greeting, no attempt to help—just hung up. If this is how they treat potential customers, I can only imagine what the rest of their service is like. Definitely will be taking my business elsewhere.

Dec 2, 2025 @ 11:00 am . This company was recommended to me by a staff at AMRE Supply for any outdoor equipment parts. Search thru the website and found the company Alpine. Did some searching for the parts I am looking for and then called the customer service. I politely ask for help if they carry the part for the item I found from their website - LCT type of engine for snow thrower. The women who answered the phone ask me what brand of snow thrower- upon hearing that the brand is Poulin Pro, immediately she said they don’t carry the parts because they don’t carry parts for Poulin Pro. While in fact the type of engine used by Poulin Pro is an LCT engine 136cc and the breakdown of the parts is in their website parts finder. Called a couple times and women don’t want to entertain me at all and hang-up the phone. My first impression NOT SO IMPRESSED AT ALL .

If I could give 10 stars I would.I came to Alpine Lawn and Equipment from a referral. l was acknowledged as soon as I walked in, I advised them what mower I was interested in , they showed me the basics for the lawnmower before purchase , at the time of purchase I was advised they would register the warranty, I was then provided a tutorial of the mower, they answered all the questions I had without any hesitation and they even placed the mower in my vehicle. This was the best retail experience I have ever had. I left there fully confident that I could rely on them if I had any issues with my new mower.

I have been dealing with Alpine for 30 years. I have never had a bad experience other than being more than welcome at every visit. Sometimes Dom, Pat and Rocky have been very busy and I have waited patiently for 20 minutes or so, while they served the others with the same professional manner as they serve me. Thanks. People have asked me where I have bought my lawn and gardening equipment and I advise them to go to Alpine with confidence. Service and sales are excellent. Thank you Alpine for the many years of service and many more.

Called the service centre multiple times to determine prices and warranty coverage for my Briggs and Stratton machine. I was told the machine could or could not be covered based on if it there was a manufacturing error. So I rented a van loaded this heavy machine myself only to find out that Alpine Lawn charges a $150 inspection charge which will not be covered under warranty. The company failed to properly inform me during multiple phone calls just to make sure that I would pay the inspection fee based on the hassle of bringing the machine after driving a total of 100km.

Nagetive 5 star revivew Over charge inspection fee They charge 100 +HST just for looking on your lawn mower, they wont tell you there is hidden charge when you drop off for estime. Pay the fee or leave your equiment there.

ALPINE only services what ALPINE sells (HONDA, TORO, ARIENS Snowthrower Machines, Briggs and Stratton Engines etc.). I am sorry for the misunderstanding, if you require any OUTDOOR POWER EQUIPMENT, PARTS or ACCESSORIES that ALPINE is an AUTHORIZED DEALER for please come in and see me and I will make it right.
