We spent an unforgettable day yesterday, on the tour of Niagara falls, including the whirlpool, behind the falls, the spectacular boat ride at the falls, maple syrup tasting and lots of opportunities to explore in our own time. The tour itself was exceptional and we will never forget it for sure. Our tour guide Bernard was knowledgeable and clear in his instruction regarding pick up times and locations etc… However, we found his outdated terminology of referring to indigenous people as native Indian to be a bit odd and his reference to the suicide rate at the falls, which he repeated three times, was concerning, especially with several children and young people onboard. Bernard has a particular affection for German and Australian people, and spent the vast majority of the tour speaking to the passengers from both of these countries, in English and German, while those of us from other countries got little move than “here’s your ticket for the boat”, which was very disappointing as we paid our tour fare too. The large sign at the front of the bus telling us that a 15% tip is customary was ignored when we departed the bus. Where we come from we tip to reflect the service we received and as our tour price covered all the attractions and the transport, we felt a zero tip was warranted, given that we were basically ignored by Bernard for the whole day. It was good at first. But then that German tour guide showed their true colors. We were just 5mins late because we were not being able to find the bus as it's a huge area. Yes, they showed where the bus will be but we got confused and reached there not more than 5mins later the departure time. They literally left us there. They were so inconsiderate that they didn't even think of us. It took us 3 hours to get back just because we were 5mins late.
We had a fantastic day out at the Niargara Falls , our guide Manny was amazing he was very informative about Toronto and the falls and made sure we had enough time to enjoy all the sights.
We have just had the best day, joining BG Tours' Niagara Falls: Boat, Journey Behind the Falls, & Tower Tour, with Bernad as our tour guide. With the ice and snow, we were unable to take the boat trip, but BG Tours arranged Niagara Parks Power Station as an alternative. It was absolutely incredible—and something we wouldn't have considered doing by ourselves. It was a total highlight descending underneath the power station and then walking out at the bottom of the falls. Incredible. Bernad was an incredible guide. He was super friendly, funny, helpful, and knowledgeable. He even arranged a helicopter tour of Niagra Falls for us at a discounted rate—again, something we wouldn't have booked ourselves. Today has been a bucket list day. Highly recommended.
