The restaurant is listed as open from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Tuesdays, both on Google Maps and on the sign at the door. However, when we arrived at 1:30 pm, the restaurant was closed, and no one was answering the phone. This was quite disappointing and not up to the standards one would expect in Canada.
The best Sri Lankan Colombo food I have had in Canada so far. Now they have the acharu station as well. This is my ONLY place for Sri Lankan Colombo style food cravings.
Super service. Taste of Colombo is amazing! Authentic Sri Lankan flavours, generous portions, and very friendly service. The kottu and rice & curry taste just like home. Highly recommended for anyone craving real Sri Lankan food. Also the Sri Lankan type ginger tea is awesome.
Tried our authentic sri lankan taste food. Fried rice with the combo of shrimp devil. Shrimp devil was really awesome. Our server Anitha did a great customer service. Returing back for sure!
My partner and I traveled from Ohio, USA over 6 hours to visit Canada and try some of its well-known Sri Lankan restaurants. Unfortunately, our experience at this restaurant was extremely disappointing from the moment we arrived. When we walked in, we weren’t greeted or even acknowledged. The young woman behind the counter was on her cell phone and didn’t look up or say hello. We had to initiate the greeting ourselves, and she simply pointed to where we could sit. After sitting for quite some time without service, my partner went back to the counter to ask how to place an order. Only then did she tell us, “You scan the menu.” Once she came to take our order, she brought over a water jug that appeared unclean. No napkins were provided. we had to get up and find them ourselves. Throughout our meal, she continued to use her phone, barely paying attention to the customers. We even had to remind her about part of our order, to which she responded with a dismissive “oh.” The food itself was mediocre — a 2 out of 5 at best. Some dishes tasted a bit old and lacked freshness. Overall, the experience did not come close to what we expected. As an American traveling with my Sri Lankan partner, I was especially disappointed because he had spoken so highly of Sri Lankan hospitality. He even apologized on the way home, saying that this experience did not reflect the kindness or warmth he’s used to from his culture. When we left, the same staff member seemed upset that we didn’t leave a tip and muttered something under her breath as we walked out. Considering the service we received, a tip was not deserved. The person working the front is not suited for that role and would benefit from proper training in professionalism, customer service, and respect for the restaurant and the cultures it represents.
I ordered the shrimp wade, but unfortunately it was very disappointing. It didn’t have any taste — no salt, no spice, no crunch — it was completely soggy. It seems like it was just a name without the real quality of a proper wade. It felt like a waste of both time and money. They’re making money out of the same name that and the look that we have seen in back home. (this is from Test of Colombo in Toronto. No one else sells Shrip Wade) the photo is taken from their restaurant unfortunately they are saying it’s not their product I also ordered rice and curry with mutton, and that too was not enjoyable. The dish was extremely bitter, likely because the spices were overused or poorly balanced. Instead of enhancing the flavor, the spice mix made the entire dish unpleasant and bitter
Their food was great at first. But since lately the quality has decreased rapidly. I recently brought a kotthu and beef Roti. However there was hardly any meat to be found. This was the second time it happened.
