Friend of mine had a PC problem I was helping them diagnose. I ruled out a number of issues and decided it was a hardware fault of the CPU or Motherboard but I had no spare hardware to test them. Asked him to take it to geeksquad so they can test the CPU/Motherboard. I have the person the full history of my investigation and the issues. They incorrectly said the PC wouldn't POST (it would boot loop in the windows bootloader, and we could access the BIOS/UEFI so yes it WOULD POST) They incorrectly and repeatedly said the bios needed to be updated (the PC was functioning for years with the same hardware, there was no chipset incompatibility) They opened the PC and said there was thermal paste in the CPU socket. If this was the case the PC would have had issues the day it was built. Again it's been working for years. They refused to do diagnostic without cleaning first, and said it would cost $200 to clean it. Meaning they took the $60 diagnostic fee without doing any diagnostic and likely planted the thermal paste there trying to scam $200 more. This operation is a farce and I will never recommend my friends to go here anymore.
Customer service is the worst service ever. Don't ever use them . Don't buy there warranty Not one of there staff knows what they are doing, on the phone or in person Waste of money with there membership When speaking with the call center the people sounds like their half dead. Don't use there service
I've spent a lot of money at Best Buy over the years, but I'm never using their services again! I bought a laptop with a protection plan through their website, and there was nothing to indicate that this protection plan never expires! The Geek Squad is not trustworthy, their protection services are worthless, and cancelling this plan is more difficult than it needs to be (the only way to cancel is to contact them by phone and wait to speak to someone). I don't buy from businesses that use dishonest tactics like not disclosing the full details of a protection plan.
Bought a TV and wall mount from Best Buy along with a TV setup service from Geek Squad. People at Best Buy were excellent with doing their job on their end. Geek Squad, not at . My technician canceled on me without giving me a call about the cancelation nor offering a reschedule and I practically called in myself.
Seriously this is my Honest review- Waste, Worst and no words ...? simply useless. This is all big scam to loot our money. When you’re having issues with your laptop/any device, then true characters will come out from this service saying it’s not covered under the insurance policy. So it’s 200% better to avoid such useless service. Trust me. I’m not lying, I have wasted a lot of time over the phone and roaming around the store.
DO NOT GET GEEK SQUAD MEMBERSHIP. I have been trying to cancel the membership, since I have not been using for the last one year. I visited the STC showroom to cancel and they said I can cancel only from 1 800 number. I called the number and the wait time is over an hour and still could not talk to them. I wasted more than 4 hours on 4 different times trying to connect. I left a message to call back so many times, NO RESPONSE. Why is it so difficult to cancel their membership? Are they tying to take our money though we don't want their services? My membership goes to an automatic renewal as of September 1st and I have no way of canceling it, as no way to contact them. I may end up paying my hard earned money for this losers. WHAT A WAY TO STEAL THE MONEY FROM THE CUSTOMERS. KEEP IT UP BEST BUY!! I hope i can to cancel the membership without paying anymore. Lets try again and wast my time.
