Just had such a strange experience here that I’m writing this review from the table. My friend and I entered it seemed nice. The staff seemed friendly until the waiter came. He turned the menu away from me faced my friend and explained the menu to only her. Did not speak or acknowledge me at all. Then came back and asked only her if she would like a drink. My friend tried to direct his attention back to me and asked if I wanted to order but I was so put off by the blatant disregard and dismissal that decided not to spend any money here.
Came for brunch and it was absolutely delicious. Price wise it’s about the same as other higher end brunch spots but taste wise I think they put more time into preparation and higher quality ingredients
The food was excellent and so was the service. The cassava cheese balls, pan fried trout, meat pie and peach mint refresher were the standouts for me. Kath and all the other students did an amazing job. I would come back for sure. Highly recommend for anyone who can make it for lunch on the weekdays. I’ll be back to try brunch. :)
Visited here twice and both were amazing experiences! Food were delicious as always and the student servers were polite. Most importantly the food were affordable with such a large portion! Highly recommend!
Cheap food for college students but some of the staff were weirdly rude when i tried to go into the actual restaurant and not just the cafe. they kept telling me to check the website and i asked why cant i just get a table the just repeated themselves for me to check on the website confused i check the website and it said nothing. the restaurant was empty btw. so i just wont go to the sitting down portion of the place ever i guess
Hidden gem in Scarborough! Go support students' learning at The Local Cafe - they offer a variety of takeout items, made daily by the students! Most of their baked goods are only $2 each! Prepared sandwiches $7, salads, frozen pizzas, lasagnas and tv dinners available also!
I’ve been here a few times while on campus, the service is efficient, and their instructor rounds frequently to ensure guests are satisfied. For a 3 course meal, you get great quality dishes with unique flavours. My favourite so far has been the honey glazed vegetables, lamb papardelle, and pizza. The rosemary bread with rosemary butter is sooo fresh too!
